OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH BIBLE VERSE STUDY
OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH
WHAT
DOES
OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH MEAN?
All too
often in our Christian walk, and as we mature in the Faith,
we tend to forget the fervor that we once had concerning the
strength and wonder of our Almighty Father, and what He can
do through us, as to glorify HIMSELF.
Sometimes
we speak with hesitancy about the ability that we have to
allow the Holy Spirit to work in us, and we limit ourselves
... and God. All it takes is a hint of doubt to prevent the
awesome will of God from occurring each and every day of our
lives.
Because of
the education and experience that we expect from the
professionals that we put our confidence in today for
worldly matters, we mistakenly believe that as Christians,
the spiritual matters that we will face, requires that same
type of experience, and knowledge from us, that only time
and much research and study can instill. This is simply not
so.
When you
become a Christian, God will use you immediately to fulfill
His purpose. Jesus believed in, on the job training. The
disciples were performing miracles when their Faith was very
young ... They didn't study scripture for four years before
they went out to preach the Kingdom of Heaven. No, friend,
Jesus showed them some miracles, and then immediately sent
them out to do the same, and preach the Gospel. He didn't
consider them amateurs, because He knew it was GOD working
through them.
Your
calling, likewise, has no level of seniority ... God simply
chooses you and you are anointed by Him through the Holy
Spirit and given your gifts to immediately begin serving Him
to fulfill His purpose, and although you will discover over
time, how your cooperation with the Holy Spirit can enhance
the effectiveness of your gifts, there is no probationary
period, or internship, or novice rank, or anything else that
wouldn't allow you to do all kinds of extraordinary things
... immediately ... and that includes miracles!
THAT'S
RIGHT ... I SAID
MIRACLES!
THIS OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH BIBLE VERSE STUDY
WILL HELP YOU LEARN WHAT THE OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH BIBLE
VERSE MEANS AND WHY SOME WERE TOLD OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH AND
HOW BEING OF LITTLE FAITH CAN AFFECT YOUR CHRISTIAN WALK.
You've
learned about childlike Faith ... And that you can even
count inexperience as a PLUS! Why? Because the younger you
are in your Faith (usually), the more enthusiastic you are
and less time has passed allowing the enemy to plant seeds
of doubt in your mind. You are eager to believe and see the
TRUTH.
Don't ever
forget, it's not YOUR ability to perform the things that God
has planned for you that does the job ... it's the Holy
Spirit working THROUGH you. You are merely an earthen
vessel.
IT'S THE
LITTLE THINGS THAT COUNT?
I've
noticed that many people who are called, begin with great
expectations. They're excited to go out and preach the
Gospel, and to find the lost sheep of the world and bring
them back to God ... But, what about the performing of
miracles? Why do you suppose people think that miracles are
obsolete? We have shepherds today that are preaching less
than the TRUTH ... Believing in their hearts that miracles
no longer occur, and people shouldn't expect GOD SIZED
BLESSINGS ... A.K.A. MIRACLES, to happen anymore! Hogwash!
Or as Jesus said ... "O ye of little Faith."
First,
let's take a look at some of the extraordinary things that
Jesus did.
He healed
the sick:
|
Matthew 8:2-3
And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped Him,
saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
And Jesus put forth His hand, and touched him, saying,
I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was
cleansed. |
The blind
saw:
|
John 9:10-11
Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes
opened? He answered and said, A man that is called
Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto
me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and
washed, and I received sight. |
The deaf
heard:
|
Matthew 11:4-5
Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John
again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind
receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up,
and the poor have the Gospel preached to them. |
The lame
walked:
|
Luke 5:22-25
But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answering
said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? Whether
is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to
say, Rise up and walk? But that ye may know that the
Son of man hath power upon Earth to forgive sins, (He
said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee,
Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
And immediately he rose up before them, and took up
that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house,
glorifying God. |
He cast out
devils, and the dumb spake:
|
Matthew 9:32-33
As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb
man possessed with a devil. And when the devil was
cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled,
saying, It was never so seen in Israel. |
He turned
water into wine:
|
John 2:7-10
Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water.
And they filled them up to the brim. And He saith unto
them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the
feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast
had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not
whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water
knew;) the governor of the feast called the
bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the
beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have
well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast
kept the good wine until now. |
He turned a
few fish and loaves of bread into enough to feed thousands:
|
Mark 6:41-44
And when He had taken the five loaves and the two
fishes, He looked up to Heaven, and blessed, and brake
the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set
before them; and the two fishes divided he among them
all. And they did all eat, and were filled. And they
took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of
the fishes. And they that did eat of the loaves were
about five thousand men. |
There are
even more things ... like raising people from the dead!
OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH TRUTH WITH
OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH BLESSINGS GIVING
OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH HOPE
NOW ...
Look at
what Jesus said about those who believe in Him:
|
John 14:12-21
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on
me, the works that I do shall he do also; and
Greater works
than these
shall he do;
because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall
ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be
glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my
name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my
commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He shall
give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you
for ever; Even the Spirit of TRUTH; whom the world
cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither
knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with
you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you
comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while,
and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because
I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall know
that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. He
that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is
that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved
of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest
myself to him. |
Uh
huh ... Did you catch all that? Jesus didn't say, It's the
little things that count. He said to those shepherds, If you
believe in me, you'll do MIRACLES that are EVEN GREATER than
the ones you've seen me do.
What else
did you get out of that scripture? Why will people be doing
these things? Because Jesus wouldn't be here on Earth
anymore, so He has passed us the torch so to speak. He gave
us divine examples of how to glorify God, called miracles.
When miracles are manifested through you ... There's no
doubt that the source of the miracle is God, and what better
way to glorify Him than to permit Him to work through us for
His glory?!
What is the
key to all of this?
OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH WARNING ON
OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH DANGERS AND
OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH CONCERNS.
NO DOUBT
|
Matthew 21:21-22
Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say
unto you, If ye have Faith, and doubt not, ye shall
not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but
also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou
removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be
done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in
prayer, believing, ye shall receive. |
It's not
the same to SAY you believe in something, but harbor doubt
about it in your heart. It only takes a little bit of Faith
to make things happen, so think of what a LOT of Faith could
do! Grab the baton and run with it!
|
Luke 17:6
And the Lord said, If ye had Faith as a grain of
mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be
thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in
the sea; and it should obey you. |
But it
only takes a little bit of doubt to ruin it all.
|
James 1:5-8
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that
giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and
it shall be given him. But let him ask in Faith,
nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave
of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let
not that man think that he shall receive any thing of
the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his
ways. |
All too
often, we tend to forget the power of the Holy Spirit, and
we get a little notion that WE have a hand in God's
intentions to work through us ... Which means, we just took
the credit away from God. When we start to take credit for
what only God is responsible for, deep within we realize
that this is a pool that's just too deep for us, then we
begin to doubt our own ability instead of depending on the
power of God's Holy Spirit working THROUGH us ... and that's
when we lose Faith, and hinder the miracles that He is
waiting to release THROUGH us. Don't forget that word
THROUGH ... it's very important. Without God, we can do
NOTHING, but surrendering to Him, we can do ANYTHING!
Here's how
it works:
God's plan
+ Our Faith, willingness, and surrender = MIRACLES
Our plan +
Our limitations, ability, and desire for recognition = Doubt
|
Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With
men this is impossible; but with God all things are
possible. |
If the term
miracles is still just a little too ...
unbelievable ... for you to accept, Paul explains that there
are really different kinds of spiritual gifts and
administrations and the Holy Spirit uses us to perform these
things to manifest Himself ... cool huh?
|
1 Corinthians 12:1; 4-11
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not
have you ignorant. Now there are diversities of
gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences
of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are
diversities of operations, but it is the same God
which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the
Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to
one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to
another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To
another Faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts
of healing by the same Spirit; To another the
working of miracles;
to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits;
to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the
interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that
one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man
severally as He will. |
Paul uses
the term miracles too.
The point
is, are we just a bunch of Christians, in this day and age,
who go about bragging about our Almighty Father, but by our
own twinges of doubt, we ourselves hinder the Holy Spirit
from performing miracles through us because the world has
taught us that those things just don't happen anymore. And
why not? If the world ever needed miracles, it would be now,
don'tcha think? If miracles don't happen, it's only because
WE don't allow them to, through our own doubt ...
It's NOT because God doesn't want them to occur.
|
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to
them that love God, to them who are the called
according to His purpose. |
Just a
little bit of Faith is all it takes. Take a look at what
happened when Peter's allowed his Faith to prevail, and then
what happened when he began to doubt:
|
Matthew 14:24-33
But the ship was now in the midst of the sea,
tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in
the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them,
walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him
walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is
a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway
Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is
I; be not afraid. And Peter answered Him and said,
Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the
water. And He said, Come. And when Peter was come down
out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to
Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was
afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord,
save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth His
hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of
little Faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when
they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. Then
they that were in the ship came and worshipped Him,
saying, Of a TRUTH thou art the Son of God. |
Want to
make a difference for God? Want to watch things get a little
exciting in your life? Buckle on some Faith, step outside
the boat, take hold of Jesus' hand, and let some miracles
rock and roll. As a Christian, you shouldn't settle for
anything less. Indeed, the little things count, but don't
forget, Jesus had something GREATER in mind.
|
John 14:12
Verily, verily,
I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works
that I do shall he do also; and
Greater works
than these
shall he do;
because I go unto my Father. |
