Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Before Jesus was born, God made a promise, called a testament, that people had to sacrifice their best animals to God for their sins to be forgiven. That means they burned the animals and the smoke would rise to heaven, then God would forgive them. God saw that people just kept on sinning more and more. So God said that he would make a new promise. He sent Jesus Christ, His Son, to die on the cross, to be the last sacrifice for people's sins. This new promise, or New Testament is that if you confess, or tell, your sin to God, and be truly sorry in your heart for it, and try to never ever do it again, then your sin is forgiven. Jesus came back to life again after He died on the cross. We celebrate this day, called Easter. To go to Heaven, you have to believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for our sins, and that He rose from the dead. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world.

To begin to share with you the story of Jesus, we must understand why God gave us His Son. It was to establish a New Covenant with His chosen people ... Us.

What is a Covenant?

A "Covenant" is an agreement between two parties. In this case, the agreement was between God and His Chosen people. It was based on LAW and was given to the people by God, through Moses. The Old Testament is based on this Old Covenant and the New Testament represents the New Covenant.

Our Father told us in the Bible that we will know that He is God because He tells us things that will happen before they occur. He is the God of prophecy.

Isaiah 46:9-11

9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.

The Bible also says that God reveals His plan to the prophets and these prophets share it with His chosen people.

Amos 3:7

Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His servants the Prophets.

2 Peter 1:21

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Revelation 19:10

For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

This brings up a question to mind and heart ... Did our Father prophesy, through His servants the prophets, of the coming of this New Covenant?

The answer is ... Absolutely!

After looking at what his chosen people had done over the first few thousand years ... God made this statement ...

Jeremiah 31:31-34

31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Zechariah 11:10-14

10 And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people.
11 And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the Lord.
12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.
13 And the Lord said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord.
14 Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

He tells us that He will break His Old Covenant (Old Testament) and even prophesied the timing that the Old Covenant would end and the New Covenant would begin. He said that at the time of the change of the Covenants the Jewish people would consider His worth as ... 30 pieces of silver (the amount the Jewish Religious leaders paid Judas to betray Jesus).

God prophesied through these two prophets, hundreds of years before it happened. God knew the people would trade Him up and even told the exact amount that they would trade Him up for.

The Truth that He had accomplished His New Covenant is confirmed in the New Testament:

Hebrews 8:6-8

6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

God said that He looked down on Earth and He could not find one soul that had done good. No, not one.

Psalms 14:2-3

2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Did you know that Psalm 14 and Psalm 53 say virtually the same words? Just a little interesting fact for you.

Sooooooo, God saw that His children were all doomed to Hell. In order to save His children, He had to establish a New Blood Covenant worthy of cleansing the sins of the people ... He knew he would have to sacrifice His own Son and chose to do so to save His children.

You see ... In the days of Moses, the blood of animals was sprinkled on the people to establish the Old Covenant. (Kind of like a blood pact between friends) Now, in the New Covenant, it is the Blood of Jesus that established the New Covenant.

Leviticus 17:11

For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

Think of it this way ... The Old Covenant is kinda like a bride who married a man and obeyed out of fear and obligation, but lacked a foundation of Love ... The Marriage failed just as many marriages on earth do now for the same reasons. The result is Divorce ... A marriage based on fear and obligation is as nothing compared to one based on love. The marriages with a foundation of love can overcome all trials and tribulations the world will throw at em. It is eternal.

In this renewed marriage Covenant ... It is different in that the bride would choose to obey their husband because they loved Him. The foundation is to be based on love and Faith because of what He has done for them. He sacrificed His life so that those that He loved might live. This marriage will prove to be worthy and eternal. They will make it through the trials and tribulations that the world will throw at them because ... They love and believe in Him. That brings us to today with the choice of faith and Love ... Is not our Father awesome?

Jesus is the Mediator of the New Covenant

Hebrews 8:6

But now hath He obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also He (Jesus) is the mediator of a better Covenant, which was established upon better promises.

Hebrews 9:14-16

14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

Hebrews 12:24-25

24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

This brings us to the method that our loving father chose to bring this new covenant to pass.

There is a force out there that is attempting to overtake us all; it is Satan. There is another force that is protecting us from him; it is the Holy Spirit. It is a battle for souls. This battle is called Spiritual Warfare, and like it or not, you are right in the middle of it.
