The Conquest of Canaan Truth
Joshua Conquest of Canaan in the Bible Explained

Greetings once again from Daily Bread. We've been learning about how Joshua led the children of Israel, under God's command, through the Promised Land, driving out the heathen to possess the inheritance that God had spoken of so long ago to their ancestors, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

As you may have guessed, more kings, this time in the region of Galilee, banded together, intending to stop the God of Israel and His chosen people from possessing their land. All their armies together was like the sand of the sea in number, not to mention many horses and chariots.

With such obvious visible advantages, you can imagine that they were probably very confident in anticipating victory over Israel. However ... They would soon find out that the hand of God, which is invisible, should not be underestimated.

Joshua Conquest of Canaan in the Bible Plan

The Lord reassured Joshua not to be afraid because He would deliver them up, slain, before Israel, and commanded him to hock the horses (cut the leg muscles) and burn the chariots. And that's exactly what happened, until none remained.

Not one city made peace with Israel except Gibeon. You can read the details of Israel's victories, the names of the cities and their kings, in your Bible in Chapter 11 of the book of Joshua.

And once Joshua had taken the land according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, the land had rest from war.

Chapter 12 is a rather short chapter, listing the kings that were killed, whose land the children of Israel possessed. There were two on the east side of the Jordan River and thirty one on the west side of the Jordan.
