The Bible speaks of our first love and how we are to obtain and
maintain your first love throughout your Christian walk and to beware
straying from this first love and if you do, to immediately return to
your First Love lest you lose it. But, who or what is the First Love
in the Bible referring to? Let us look into this very concerning
matter ... Shall we? We will be looking in the book of Revelation
where the Church of Ephesus is being addressed ...
Revelation 2:1-7
1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These
things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his
right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven
golden candlesticks;
2 I know thy works, and thy labour,
and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them
which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say
they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them
liars:
3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my
name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because
thou hast left thy First Love.
5 Remember therefore from
whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the First Works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will
remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou
repent.
6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the
Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.
7 He that hath an ear,
let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;
To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree
of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
Wow ... Since these are the Words of Jesus shared with is by John, we
best find out what Jesus meant when He said First Love as to
be sure we never leave our First Love and what these First works are all about don’tcha think?
After
reading of this First Love ... I was immediately “reminded”
of a Scripture which Jesus spoke:
Luke 14:33-35
33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not
all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
34 Salt
is good: but if the Salt have lost his savour,
wherewith shall it be seasoned?
35 It is neither fit for
the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it
out. He that hath ears to hear let him hear.
He that hath ears to hear let him hear ...
Let us take the First Love in the Bible field trip ... Jesus
said these same words at the end of each message He
had for the various Churches addressed in the Book of
Revelation including after He spoke of the leaving your
First Love and returning to your first works
in Revelation 2:7 ... He that hath an ear,
let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches ...
He that hath ears to hear let him hear ...
This statement means that there is a secret message within and we are to ponder and spiritually discern the message being shared as to be
able to comprehend the spiritual depths of the shared words. so let us put on our spiritual ears as to hear what the Holy
Spirit is saying.
Salt huh? Jesus spoke of this salt in other Scriptures too ... So what is this Salt that is being spoken of? We all know that salt is a type of seasoning but how would that apply to our First Love and first works?
Again ...
Luke 14:33-35
33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not
all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour,
wherewith shall it be seasoned?
35 It is neither fit for
the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it
out. He that hath ears to hear let him hear.
The First Love in the Bible Mystery
Return to Your First Love Revelation Clue
Salt seems to be an ingredient of Faith which would have you
choose to trade up everything for Him as to be His.
Mark 9:50
Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltiness,
wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves,
and have peace one with another.
There is that seasoning point of view again ... How do we season
ourselves? Let’s look at this Scripture in context to find
out what Jesus was talking about ...
Mark 9:45-50
45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to
enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into
the fire that never shall be quenched:
46 Where their worm dieth not,
and the fire is not quenched.
47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it
out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one
eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
48 Where their worm
dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
49 For every one shall be
salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with
salt.
50 Salt is good: but if the Salt have lost
his saltiness, wherewith will ye season it? Have Salt
in yourselves, and have peace one with another
This Salt seems to be an ingredient in your Faith which helps you to
overcome being lured away by the call of the flesh thereby not losing
the First Love so you would not experience the return to your First
Love Revelation danger. Let’s look at another Scripture where
Jesus spoke of this salt.
Matthew 5:13
Ye are the Salt of the earth: but if the salt
lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is
thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and
to be trodden under foot of men.
Sounds like pretty much the same words huh? But
the context is a little diff in this Scripture. Let’s
look at the context in which the Lord shared these Words:
Matthew 5:10-13
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for
righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and
persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil
against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be
exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven:
for so persecuted they the prophets which were before
you.
13 Ye are the Salt of the earth: but if the Salt
have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it
is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out,
and to be trodden under foot of men.
Return to Your First Love Revelation Meaning
Who is the First Love?
In this Scripture the Salt seems to be an ingredient which
helps you endure persecution, trials and tribulation. It
goes on to say that without this Salt, it is useless.
Paul speaks of this Salt as well ...
Colossians 4:5-6
5 Walk in wisdom toward them that
are without, redeeming the time.
6 Let your speech be
always with Grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may
know how ye ought to answer every man.
Let’s look at all of the First Love in the Bible clues that we
have found together ... Salt is an ingredient within our Faith
that has us trade up everything else in our lives for Jesus. This salt keeps our flesh in check, helps us endure persecution,
trials and tribulation and now we hear that this salt allows
us to know how to answer every man. What or who allows us to know
what to say to every man, even during persecution, trials and
tribulation? We all know that only The Holy Spirit can do this.
Luke 12:11-12
11 And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto
magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or
what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:
12 For
the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what
ye ought to say.
So the Salt is a
fiery passion brought forth by the Holy Spirit!
Let’s look back at our First Love and first works in another
First Love in the Bible field trip ... Let’s go back to the
First time we became believers. Imagine back then if you will ... Did
you obtain the Holy Spirit by way of ritual and routine of Religious
law or did you obtain it by Faith? This question has been asked
before ...
Galatians 3:2
This only would I learn of you,
Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by
the hearing of Faith?
You obtained the Spirit ... By way of a childlike Faith. It was your
First Love for the Lord, which had you do your First works. So, how do we interpret the Return to your First Love Revelation
Bible warning and just how do you avoid the pitfall of the loss of
your first love thereby never having to return to your First Love
because you never left it?
We must strive to maintain this childlike Spirit filled faith and never allow it to become routine and ritual Religious laws we follow. I will give you an example. Remember when you were First in Love with a man or woman? Remember how magical it was? But as time
passed, you allowed it to become stale and stagnate by allowing your First Love to become routine and ritual Love which became kinda like law or Obligation. (Note: Unless they left you while you were in this Love and that made you cling onto their memory.)
The First Love in the Bible tip ... Those that are given the gift of being in Love best maintain that First Love as well lest they too find it gone as many can attest with the divorce rate skyrocketing. In like manner you must go back and refresh your First Love with Jesus and restore within daily the reason why you did your first works because without that spiritual Love and Faith, you will fail miserably if the first love has become a job and not an adventure.
How to not have to Return to your First Love? Bring forth that inner child and salt that Love with that childlike Spiritual Faith as to make your works more effective and your words felt by those you speak with. The First Love in the Bible study on the return to your First Love
Revelation danger simply means that if we stray from that Son-sational realm where we first experienced our first love for God and fell in Love with Jesus.
We need to choose to return to that First Love immediately and seek ways to re-obtain and maintain that genuine First Love forever. You know, just like how you would hope to be loved. Unconditionally, genuinely and 24/7 forever.
