Welcome to our Christianity Oasis Christian Walk Bible study program. This is our Passover Bible study taking an in depth look into the Biblical Passover week while sharing powerful Passover Bible Scripture and sharing how the absolutely awesome and extremely intriguing Passover Bible message affects your YOU-nigue Christian walk.
WHAT IS THE BIBLICAL PASSOVER WEEK IN BIBLE PASSAGES?
The Passover week feasts and Passover week celebrations which are the Holy days that the Israelites were told, by God through Moses, to honor each year, were actually ... SHADOWS OF THINGS TO COME
Colossians 2:16-17
Let no man therefore judge you
in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday,
or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: Which are a
shadow of things to come; but the body is
of Christ. |
In other
words ... God created these Passover days of celebration as signs of major
spiritual events that would occur on these feast and celebration Holy days in
the future. You will find after you have completed this study that the Jewish
feasts and celebrations which have been celebrated by the Israelites from the
time of the exodus from Egypt, were created by God as shadows of many spiritual
events that occurred such as the baptism and death of Jesus.
What does the Bible say of this feast and
celebration in Israel known as the Biblical Passover week?
Leviticus 23:5
In the fourteenth day of the
first month at even is the LORD's Passover.
|
You have probably heard the story of how this
celebration came about, but do not realize it. It is the story of the great
exodus from Egypt (see the Book of Exodus) after God had plagued the Egyptians
for not letting His people go, Moses told the Jewish people that the angel of
death was coming to kill all the first born of Egypt and in order for the
Israelites to protect their first born children from this angel of death, they
needed to place lamb's blood on their homes for the angel of death to
pass over them. It was called ... Passover.
PASSOVER BIBLE STUDY FACTS BIBLICAL PASSOVER WEEK ADVENTURE
In this celebration, they were to bring in an
unblemished lamb on the
10th day of the first month of the Jewish
calendar and keep this lamb for 4 days. Then
on the 14th day of the first month the
Israelites would kill their lamb and
place the
Blood of the Lamb
on their homes to save themselves. They were
told to do this every year and was called PASSOVER.
REMEMBER ... THIS CELEBRATION
WAS A SHADOW OF AN EVENT TO COME:
Colossians 2:16-17
Let no man therefore judge you
in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday,
or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: Which are a
shadow of things to come; but the body is
of Christ. |
THE EVENT WAS THE PROMISE OF
THE MESSIAH ... JESUS
JESUS' DEATH
Jesus, known as the
lamb without sin came into Jerusalem on the
10th day of the 1st month and was with the people for
4 days. He was killed by the choice of His
own people on the 14th day of the first month
just as the Jewish people were celebrating the
PASSOVER.
His blood is now the SAVING GRACE.
There is a feast and celebration in Israel
known as First Fruits which was 3 days
after Passover where the Jewish people were to offer an he lamb without
blemish as a sacrifice to their Lord.
Leviticus
23:10-14
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say
unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap
the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your
harvest unto the priest: And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be
accepted for you: on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.
And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish
of the first year for a burnt offering unto the LORD. And the meat offering
thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering
made by fire unto the LORD for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof
shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin. And ye shall eat neither bread,
nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought
an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your
generations in all your dwellings. |

Jesus' Resurrection

resurrected on Sunday morning. God
sacrificed
Jesus as
that he lamb because there were not enough sheep in all the world to
atone for people’s sins. |
PASSOVER BIBLE STUDY PROOF BIBLICAL PASSOVER WEEK AND GRACEThis brings us to an interesting fact. It is
written that Jesus would be resurrected 3 days and 3 nights after He was
crucified. Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and was "kept" for 4 days just
as the unblemished lamb was to be in the Passover. If He was in the earth for 3
days and 3 nights and resurrected on Sunday morning, this reveals He was killed
on Thursday, not "Good Friday." Research proves that the change was made to
accommodate those who made the change. Tsk tsk.
In addition ... Many believe that, because the
Jewish people asked that Jesus' crucified body be taken down from the cross
because it would be "Sabbath" at sunset. (Sabbath is Friday sunset to Saturday
sunset.)
John 19:31
The Jews therefore, because it was the
preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath
day, (for that sabbath day was an high
day,) besought Pilate that their legs
might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
|
So the next day was a Sabbath day (a day of rest
from work).
However ... Did you notice that it said that this particular
Sabbath was a "high" Sabbath day, meaning it was a special Sabbath. The Sabbath
being spoken of is a special Sabbath that occurred the day after Passover.
Leviticus 23:6-7
And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of
unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. In
the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work
therein.
|
The first day (the 15th day of the month) was
the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread and was a special Sabbath and at
sunset it would have been this special Sabbath, not the weekly Sabbath.
PASSOVER BIBLE STUDY DEBATE BIBLICAL PASSOVER WEEK DETAILS
WORK SIX DAYS, REST ON THE SEVENTH
The Bible says that God worked 6 days
(Genesis,
Chapter 1) and on the 7th day, He rested (Genesis 2:2).
God also made this law apply to His people. They
were to work 6 days and rest on the 7th (Exodus 20:9-10). And six years
thou shalt sow thy land,
and shall GATHER in the fruits thereof (Exodus 23:10)
... If his
people had a servant or slave,
they were to work 6 years and be set free the 7th year. God's
people were also to
sow in the land and gather fruits for 6 years but not on
the 7th. Even Jesus, when He
was put on the Cross, hung there 6 hours, and died at the
beginning of the 7th hour (Mark 15:25 and Mark 15:34-37). |
The math on proving this TRUTH is simple ...
Matthew reveals that Jesus was found missing
the day after Sabbath.
Matthew 28:1
In the end of the Sabbath,
as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and
the other Mary to see the sepulcher. |
How can it be then that they asked Jesus to be
taken down from the cross on the day before Sabbath and His body was found
missing the day after Sabbath when we know He was in the earth 3 days
and 3 nights?
Matthew 12:40
For as Jonas (Jonah) was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man (Jesus) be
three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. |
Let's do the math ... 3 days and 3 nights. If
He was taken down from the cross just before Sabbath began that Sabbath would be
the first night.
That is 72 hours.
Jesus died at 3:00 PM ...
Let's say it got dark at 8:00 PM on the weekly
Sabbath.
(Friday at sunset)
24 hours later it would be Saturday at sunset.
48 hours later it would be Sunday at sunset.
72 hours later it would be Monday at sunset.
Problem is that Jesus was found missing Sunday morning.
As I said ... Simple math ...
THE HIGH SABBATH WAS NOT THE
WEEKLY SABBATH
Here is a lil chart to make
doing the math ... even easier!
