Biblical Spiritual Gifts Bible Study Truth
What are Spiritual Gifts Bible Verses Quest
Most people think of their gifts as their talents. Most people
believe that they have acquired these talents on their own, through
knowledge, study and practice. But what is the origin of these gifts
and/or talents within?
Why does one person select one career and another select a different
one? Why does one person elect one career and soar in it while
another flounders? Was each person called to a specific career? Were
they given gifts and talents for this career or did they acquire them
during their lives?
What if God gave specific Spiritual gifts for the intent of
performing God's will and the person who received the gifts used them
to achieve worldly goals and advance in worldly careers? Can a gift
then be used for the wrong purpose?
2 Timothy 3:1-5
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times
shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous,
boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful,
unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false
accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more
than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power
thereof: from such turn away.
This Biblical Spiritual gifts Bible study will show that there are many different types of Spiritual gifts which we will
discuss in this study. We will look into Spiritual Gifts and their
purpose. You will find the Truth that Spiritual gifts are a spiritual
ability that you receive from God, through the Holy Spirit which you
are to use to glorify the Lord ... Not selfish or worldly causes.
Do you have any Spiritual gifts and if so what are your Spiritual
gifts? That is a question that you can begin to seek answers to by
asking yourself a few questions ... What can I do, to best serve the
Lord? What opportunities and talents has He given to me that I can
use to glorify Him? What do I enjoy doing that truly serves Him?
He gave each of us unique gifts and wove them into who you are, and
He has a plan for you to use those gifts. Oft times, God will put you
into situations where you can use the Spiritual gifts that He gave
you.
No matter what your own personal Spiritual gifts are, they're
important to God. Let me give you something to think about. Let's say
you have a recipe and you remove one ingredient ... For example the
ingredient ... Salt. Let's say you take it out of all your recipe. It
changes the recipe.
But it's only salt. It usually dissolves and you can't even see
it, but it sure does make a difference. Think of your spiritual gifts
as an important ingredient to Christianity, no matter how small or
how extensive they may be. Don't underestimate the importance of the
Spiritual gifts that the Holy Spirit gives you, no matter how
insignificant you think it may be.
Actually, your gifts don't belong to you. The Holy Spirit didn't
bestow them upon you simply for your own benefit, but for the benefit
of others, and so that people would depend on one another. If we all
had all gifts, what would we need to depend on others for? Our
Spiritual gifts help keep us united.
What are Spiritual Gifts Bible Verses Purpose
This is a wonderful explanation by Paul, of how we're all united in
Christ and how we all should depend on and appreciate one another and
the Spiritual gifts that each one of us has been blessed with. Let's
take a look.
1 Corinthians 12:4-31
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same
Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the
same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the
same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every
man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of
wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another
the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another
prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another
divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of
tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit,
dividing to every man severally as he will.
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all
the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is
Christ.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body,
whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and
have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I
am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I
am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing?
If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in
the body, as it hath pleased him.
19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?
20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of
thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to
be more feeble, are necessary:
23 And those members of the body, which we think to be
less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our
uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath
tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that
part which lacked.
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that
the members should have the same care one for another.
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer
with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in
particular.
28 And God hath set some in the church, first
apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers,
after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments,
diversities of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all
teachers? are all workers of miracles?
30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with
tongues? do all interpret?
31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I
unto you a more excellent way.
Biblical Spiritual Gifts Bible Study Hope
What are Spiritual Gifts Bible Verses Blessing
What did Paul mean by that last sentence? It's good to sincerely
desire to do the best things for God ... But, Paul adds, I'm gonna
show you something that will make your demonstration of those gifts
even better! Oh my, yes! Throw a little Love into the recipe and then
you've got the right idea. Paul Continues:
1 Corinthians, Chapter 13
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling
cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand
all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so
that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and
though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it
profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth
not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is
not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the Truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all
things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies,
they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether
there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which
is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as
a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away
childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face
to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am
known.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but
the greatest of these is charity.
In other words ... You can have every gift that God has to offer but without charity and Love ... It is as nothing. Therefore, it is the intent of the use of these Spiritual gifts that is important. Always remember to share your Spiritual gifts with lots of Love!
I'd like to talk a little more about what Paul revealed to us when he
compares the Christians (Body of Christ) to the human body. Whenever
you consider yourself unworthy, or the gifts that the Holy Spirit has
freely given to you as being unimportant or even unattainable, you
impact the lives of others. If you doubt or choose not to use the
gifts that He has given you to perform your administration ... It
affects the whole Christian body.
So, if you are a Christian and you have are not aware of which
Spiritual gifts you have been given or think you may know but are
just a little scared to try to use them. What are you doing for the
cause? Are you not as the ostrich which has it's head buried in the
sand thinking everything is okay because you got your Salvation? What
about His other children which have not had Truth shared with them as
you have?
Spiritual Gifts Bible Procedure
It is a spiritual chain and one broken link can have so many fall.
It's easy to understand this. Let us say that God called John Doe to
serve Him and reach and teach the lost. John Doe showed many the way
including YOU and Jane. Jane showed 100 people this Truth and each of
those 100 showed another 100 the Truth and so on. You have a
Spiritual chain.
But, what if you chose to just say ... Whoaaaaaaa, I am glad I found the Spiritual gifts Bible Truth, but shared it not with others? Here is what Jesus said of this choice;
Matthew 25:14-46
14 For the Kingdom of Heaven is as a man travelling into a
far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his
goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and
to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and
straightway took his journey.
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and
traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained
other two.
18 But he that had received one went and digged in the
earth, and hid his lord's money.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh,
and reckoneth with them.
20 And so he that had received five talents came and
brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me
five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and
faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will
make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22 He also that had received two talents came and said,
Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two
other talents beside them.
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful
servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee
ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and
said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou
hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the
earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and
slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and
gather where I have not strawed:
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the
exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own
with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto
him which hath ten talents.
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he
shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away
even that which he hath.
30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer
darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31 When the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all
the Holy Angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His
glory:
32 And before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He
shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his
sheep from the goats:
33 And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the
goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand,
Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was
thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited
me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when
saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or
naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto
thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I
say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of
these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall He say also unto them on the left hand,
Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the
devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was
thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye
clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer Him, saying, Lord, when saw
we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or
in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall He answer them, saying, Verily I say unto
you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did
it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment:
but the righteous into life eternal.
What are Spiritual Gifts Bible Verses Warning
As you can see ... Jesus wants us to use what He gives us to help
others find their way just as we have when we become Christians.
It's easy to lose sight of how we should use our Spiritual gifts.
When you perform the gift(s) that the Holy Spirit has bestowed upon
you, are you consciously aware of it as taking the gift that He has
given, and sharing it with the Lord's beloved people? Do you give it
freely? Do you like to take the credit for your talent or do you
practice humility and make certain that others (who don't understand
as well as you do) know that it is a gift of God, and that you are
merely a vessel by which He is distributing His gift?
Let's take a quick Biblical Spiritual Gifts Bible detour and talk about specific Spiritual gifts for a moment. In today's world, it seems that our gifts differ from those that people possessed back in Paul's day, but is that really true? Let us look into:
The Gift of Healing
What about doctors? True, most have not come by their
profession Spiritually, but though our society requires a degree to
practice as a doctor of any kind, some are Spiritually gifted in
their work. They are today's healers. Does that limit you or I to not
being able to heal without this degree? No ... If God sees it in His
best interest to have you heal somebody FOR Him ... You need no
little black bag or a degree. They will be healed by Him through your
words or deeds.
What about the gift of speaking in tongues? You will find that our
world today doesn't require this gift in the same way that it did in
Biblical times as the Word of God today is spread through many other
means of communication. His Word gets around!
But, if God chose to have one of His servants speak in Tongues as
to perform His will. It is certainly possible. If you are one
interested in or have questions on this topic, I suggest you look
into this study ...
Spiritual Gifts Bible Study on Speaking in Tongues
Speaking in Tongues
What about the Biblical Spiritual gifts Bible gift of prophecy? Do we have people alive today who
are God's Prophets? This is an interesting question. Many people
believe that God doesn't use Prophets any longer. I'd like to suggest
a couple of things for you to consider. In our unbelieving world of
today, if God did send us the precious gift of a Prophet, who would
believe? I'm gonna give you a few seconds to think about your answer
...
What are Spiritual Gifts Bible Verses Blessing
Are we, as Christians not called to share God's Word? Are the prophets of old not they who did the same? Is that not a prophet? Peter tells us in the book of the Acts of the Apostles, quoting Scripture from Joel
2:28-30, that the gift of prophecy will be given to men and women
in the End Times:
Acts 2:17-18
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God,
I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your
daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and
your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour
out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
What about teachers and helpers, etc.? If you look around, you'll see
that there are people who are gifted in many of the same ways, in our
world today, as in Biblical times.
Do you have gifts that you don't even know about? Perhaps you are
gifted with something that you don't consider a 'gift' but is
something that touches other peoples' lives. Maybe hospitality is a
gift of yours. You may find it effortless, whereas someone who may be
a fantastic cook might have great difficulty making people feel
welcome, whether it be at home or at a Christian community gathering.
If you've ever seen the old movie "It's A Wonderful Life," you know
that there are many people who's lives you've affected just by being
... You.
Here is a Spiritual gifts Bible study tidbit of Truth ... That alone is a Spiritual gift. The fact that God created
you, is evidence that He has a plan for you, and that even if you
can't put a title on a specific 'gift' ... You are a gift to others.
Whether that gift is something they want or are willing to accept or
not is a totally different matter. If someone gave you a gift, and
you thought it was too special to use or maybe better said ... Too
good to be true, what good does it do? It may be nice to imagine, but
what does it profit anyone? If you are given gifts and are to use
them to help others and the person believed your efforts as being too
good to be true ... What good are they?
The same goes for your own Spiritual gifts. What if those who are
gifted with musical ability didn't sing? What good does it do for
anyone then? Don't put your Spiritual gifts up on a shelf somewhere,
and never use them. It is a shame for them to go to waste.
What are Spiritual Gifts Bible Verses Dangers
Some people are jealous of other peoples' Spiritual gifts, and this
is a problem that apparently was going on way back when, too. If the
word jealous is too abrasive for you, let's use the word ... Envious.
Paul explains, using the parts of our physical body, as an example of
how we should view our Spiritual gifts as parts of the body of
Christ, and not to misjudge your importance.
Biblical Spiritual gifts Bible study point of Interest ... How you use your gifts is important:
Romans 12:4-16
4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members
have not the same office:
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one
members one of another.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that
is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the
proportion of faith;
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that
teacheth, on teaching;
8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth,
let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he
that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is
evil; cleave to that which is good.
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly
love; in honour preferring one another;
11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving
the Lord;
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing
instant in prayer;
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to
hospitality.
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them
that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high
things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own
conceits.
We should never take advantage of Spiritual gifts or take them for
granted, whether they be our gifts, or someone else's. As Paul said
above, your gift is serving the Lord, which deserves reverence,
whether you are sharing or receiving.
A lot of people claim that they don't have any gifts or talents, or
that they just don't know what their gifts are. Sometimes this is
because they don't want the responsibility that goes along with being
gifted. Let me give you an example:
Two year old Junior learned the ABC's from watching Sesame Street
every morning, but when mommy wants Junior to sing the ABC's for Aunt
Gertrude, he remains as silent as a clam. Not because he doesn't know
the ABC's, but because he is shy and sometimes fear can overwhelm us.

from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither
shadow of turning.
