One day like another?               Free from the burdens,

“Of course not,” I said -            the problems, the strife?

“For this day is one I                 Wipe the slate clean

  shall never forget.”                   and begin a new life?”

A new life began,                       As I pondered his question...

I sat there, that night -               I knew he was right - 

A life filled with hope...               I did need a change -

trading wrong for the right.        A change in my life!

I eagerly listened - the                I opened my heart and

Word preached so clear -           asked God to come in...

Could it be?...Was it true?          I begged His forgiveness -

Did God really care?                  confessed all my sin.

Could He love even me -            Many years have gone by

take my burdens to bear?           since that night, late in May;

Could He heal all the scars        the night that I yielded

that were resident there?            to God and His way.

The preacher, it seemed,             Yes, I’ve had years of joy,

looking right down at me,             and moments of strife -

asked, “Wouldn’t you like           But I’ve found the words true

to be free ... really free?               God does give new life.

  So, this prayer today is

      especially for you -

May you open your heart

    and begin Life anew!
