THE EPISTLE OF PAUL THE APOSTLE TO THE HEBREWS
CHRISTIAN LIFE AND DEATH BIBLE TRUTH
TREE OF LIFE AND DEATH TONGUE IN THE BIBLE VOW
Glad to have you back for more
Daily Bread. In our study today, Paul
elaborates still more about Jesus as the High Priest of the New Testament.
He shows the Hebrews that the patterns or "shadows" of things to come, were
symbolic of the New Testament.
Truly then, the first covenant also had ordinances of divine service,
and a worldly sanctuary (or the Tabernacle).
And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
A model of the Tabernacle:
For there was a tabernacle made;
the first, wherein was the candlestick,
and the table, and the shewbread (holy bread);
which is called the sanctuary (also the holy place).
And thou shalt set the table
without the vail, and the candlestick over against the table on the
side of the tabernacle toward the south: and thou shalt put the table
on the north side.
And after the second veil,
the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all ...
And thou shalt hang up the vail
under the taches, that thou mayest bring in thither within the vail
the ark of the testimony: and the vail shall divide unto you between
the holy place and the most holy.
Which had the golden censer
(in which incense was burned),
And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before
the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring
it within the veil ...
and the Ark of the Covenant overlaid round about with gold,
And they shall make
an ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half shall be the length
thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a
half the height thereof. And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold,
within and without shalt thou overlay it, and shalt make upon it a
crown of gold round about.
wherein was the golden pot that had manna,
And Moses said unto
Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it
up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations.
and Aaron's rod that budded,
And it came to pass,
that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and,
behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought
forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
and the tables of the covenant;
And thou shalt put
the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the
testimony that I shall give thee.
And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat;
And thou shalt make
a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length
thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. And thou shalt
make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in
the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end,
and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye
make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. And the cherubims shall
stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their
wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy
seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.
of which we cannot now speak in detail.
Now when these things were put in order this way,
the priests always went into the first tabernacle
(called the holy place or the sanctuary),
To perform the service of God.
But into the second (the Most Holy Place)
the high priest alone went once every year,
with blood of the offerings,
which he offered for himself,
(the blood of a bullock)
and for the errors of the people
(the blood of a goat):

This yearly celebration was called the Day of Atonement. You can read
more about this "shadow" at the
Feast Shadows page of
Holy Ghost this signifying,
that the way into the holiest of all
(the way into the Most Holy Place,
or the way to enter into the presence of God)
was not yet opened,
while the first tabernacle was still standing:
Which was a figure
(form, symbol, representation, example, copy, shadow)
in those days when they offered both gifts and sacrifices,
that couldn't make the high priest complete,
as pertaining to the conscience;
(Their ceremonies couldn't make the priest pure and take
away guilt or bring peace to the soul ... Nothing could do that but the blood of Jesus.)
Which stood only in meats and drinks,
and various washings, and fleshly regulations,
required by them until the time of reformation.
But Christ being made an High Priest of good things to come,
by a greater and more perfect tabernacle,
not made with hands, that is to say, not like the first tabernacle;
or by the blood of goats and calves,
but by His own blood He entered in once
into the Most Holy Place,
having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Their ceremonies couldn't make the priest pure and take away guilt or bring
peace to the soul ... Nothing could do that but the blood of Jesus.
Jesus opened the door once and for all for us to step into God's presence
because by forgiveness through His death, we are now worthy to be called
pure, being cleansed by His blood. Now take a look at more ways of how Paul
shows that death brings life.
You can compare a testament to a will. A will doesn't become valid until
the testator dies. Death seals the covenant, or brings it to life.
