The Seven Seals Will Be Opened
Good to have you back ... Remember, it is a good idea to confirm the quoted Scripture with the Bible. What are the Seven Seals of Revelation? The Seven Seals of Revelation are a very interesting part of End Times prophecy. To find out what happens next, we must go to the Book of Revelation and see how it compares with the Olivet Discourse which is what we just looked into on the previous study page. It really should match up well, with the Olivet Discourse because Jesus was the one who predicted the Olivet Discourse and was the Spiritual author of that which is written in the Book of Revelation thereby making it the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 1:1
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto Him,
to shew unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass;
and He sent and signified it by His Angel unto His servant
John:
The Seven Seals of Revelation were written of by John however, John was merely the pen the Lord used to share the Revelation of Jesus with us. As we read the words that are shared in the Book of Revelation, keep in mind that this is a vision that John (one of Jesus' Apostles) had about two thousand years ago (about 90 A.D.) on Patmos Island while being imprisoned there by the Romans.
In the Book of Revelation, John was given the ability to look into the future, in a vision that he received and what he saw, he described in his own words and compared it to things of his day and his past. So, he uses symbols, of sorts.
When you read of these things that he saw in his vision within the Seven Seals of Revelation, try and imagine yourself back in his time period and see if you can figure out what he is describing, based on that which is in modern day. Most of the symbols are Spiritual in nature and some can be discerned by knowing the Bible, so we will be doing a little symbol searching too. As we begin the Seven Seals of Revelation Bible study, we will begin at Revelation, Chapter 6, known as the Seven Seals in Revelation. Let's find out the answer to ... What are the Seven Seals in the Bible?
Revelation 6:2
And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him
had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he
went forth conquering, and to conquer.
Let us look at the symbols used in John's Vision as to determine what are the Seven Seals of Revelation facts.
White Horse
Some believe that this is Antichrist, a world leader that will reign terror on Earth for 3½ years during the End Times because Jesus Himself will come in on a white horse when He returns at Armageddon. And they believe that Antichrist is trying to con-vince the nations that he is the long awaited Messiah.
Here is the Scripture that reveals that Jesus will return on a white
horse.
Revelation 19:11
And I saw Heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat
upon Him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth
judge and make war.
Some believe that the white horse in the Seven Seals of Revelation symbolizes the false peace covenant
that is spoken of in the book of Daniel. That the conquering of this
entity will be done in the name of Peace.
Daniel 9:27
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week [7 years] and in the midst of the week [middle of the 7 years - 3½ years] he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
They say this because John uses symbols and a white horse represents
Peace yet the rider has a bow (weapon) which suggests that he
attempts to establish Peace by war. This would make it a false
peace.
Bow
What are the Seven Seals in the Bible, Time Out ... This weapon suggests that the intent is war or defense. Note that
there are no arrows mentioned. Could this be because the power is
only for show or does this simply mean the author assumed we would
associate bow with arrows and just did not add that he had arrows?
It would seem it would be a shield if it were defense though, but
let's keep an open mind.
Something interesting to note is that when Jesus returns, He has no
bow, He has a Sword. The Sword is the Word of God.
Revelation 19:15
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should
smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he
treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Revelation 19:21
And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the
horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were
filled with their flesh.
Maybe this is why Jesus warned us to beware of false christs.
The point is that when you are doing research such as what we are
doing in the Seven Seals of Revelation Bible study, one should enter
with no preset ideas. Keep an open mind and do not dismiss anything
just because it does sit well with your own, what are the Seven Seals
in the Bible theory and watch for any clues that you may get from
God's Word.
Crown
Note that the crown was given unto him. This certainly indicates that
it is a leader of a country or a group of people. So, it is someone
that is given leadership of a nation or group.
Conquering and to Conquer
The intent of this leader is to conquer other countries.
So, using all Scripture, symbols and prophecy ... The first Seal
represents a chosen leader (Antichrist) who presents himself as being
righteous and sets forth to conquer using Peace as a disguise for his
purpose.
Now ... Remember that Jesus is the author of both the end times
prophecy in the Olivet Discourse as well as the book of Revelation
which is in truth from Jesus Christ given to John. So the Seven Seals
of Revelation Bible study interpretation has to match what Jesus said
in the Olivet Discourse.
This interpretation matches very well with the first thing mentioned
by Jesus in the Olivet Discourse, (False Christ) which we
discussed on the previous
page of this study.
Matthew 24:5
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall
deceive many.
However, I read the word many when Jesus said "many" will come in my name. This makes one lift the brow when suggesting that it is only one entity such as Antichrist.
Here is more confirmation:
1 John 2:18
Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that
Antichrist shall come, even now are there many Antichrists; whereby
we know that it is the last time.
He could have been answering all three questions originally asked before He gave the Olivet Discourse about the various points of time all at once and this is what is confusing.
What Are the Seven Seals of Revelation Warnings?
Remember ... When you are doing research such as the Seven Seals of Revelation Bible study, one should enter in with no preset ideas, keep and open mind and do not dismiss anything because it does sit well with your theory and watch for any clues that you may get from God's Word. But ... Do the rest of the Seals match up (in order) with the rest of the Olivet Discourse?
Let us continue looking into the Seals of the Book of Revelation ...
Revelation 6:4
And there went out another horse that was red: and power was
given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth,
and that they should kill one another: and there was given
unto him a great sword.
The symbol of the red horse obviously means war. You do not need to
be a rocket scientist to figure that one huh?
This matches up perfectly again with the next thing that Jesus
mentioned would occur in the Olivet Discourse which we discussed on
the previous
page of this study.
Matthew 24:6
And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be
not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is
not yet.
So, we have a second match in the Seven Seals of Revelation search for answers. It seems that the Seven Seals of Revelation Bible study is rolling right along. Let us continue looking into the Seals of the Book of Revelation;
Revelation 6:5-6
5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third
beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he
that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say,
A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a
penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
Wow ... The Black horse symbolizes Famine just as Jesus
predicted would occur next in the Olivet Discourse which we discussed
on the previous
page of this study.
Matthew 24:7
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
and there shall be famines.
Let us continue looking into the Seven Seals in the Bible ...
Revelation 6:8
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him
was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them
over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with
hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
We are given even more horrifying clues as to what else will occur at
this time.
¼ of the people on earth will die by war, famine
resulting in disease (pestilence) and from beasts of the
Earth. Many suggest that since there will be such a famine, that wild
beasts will feed on humans.
Many are killed. Some are killed with "death" ... This is what Jesus
predicted next in the Olivet Discourse when He said "pestilence"
would thrive which we discussed on the previous
page of this study.
Let us continue with our ... What are the Seven Seals in the Bible discussion, shall we?r
Revelation 6:9-11
9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the
altar the souls of them that were slain for the Word of God, and for
the testimony which they held:
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O
Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them
that dwell on the earth?
11 And white robes were given unto every one of
them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a
little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren,
that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
This is a very important Seven Seals of Revelation message. Those who had died for
Christ (Christians) received white robes and were told to wait until
other Christians that were to be killed for the name of Jesus
arrived. These Christians are just now being brought to Heaven.
This again matches very well with the next thing mentioned by Jesus
in the Olivet Discourse (Christians killed) which we discussed
on the previous
page of this study.
Matthew 24:9-14
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and
shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my
name's sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one
another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive
many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many
shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall
be saved.
14 And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all
the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Let us continue looking into the Seven Seals in the Bible ...
Revelation 6:12-17
12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and,
lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black
as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13 And the stars of Heaven fell unto the earth,
even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a
mighty wind.
14 And the Heaven departed as a scroll when it is
rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of
their places.
15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the
rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every
bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the
rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and
hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the
wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall
be able to stand?
Looking back at the Seven Seals of Revelation Bible study, shows that
this matches almost word for word with the next thing Jesus
mentioned would occur in the Olivet Discourse (Great Tribulation),
which we discussed on the previous
page of this study.
Matthew 24:29-30
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall
the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the
stars shall fall from Heaven, and the powers of the Heavens shall be
shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in
Heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they
shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of Heaven with power
and great glory.
So, let us do a quick summary of the Seven Seals of Revelation of what we have so far ... There will come a leader who will hide his true goals behind the mask of peace yet he will use power as the way he proceeds. The result will be wars, famine, disease and death until even ¼ of the population of the world is killed. This will result in Christians being killed and Great Tribulation.
As we can clearly see researching all that we have learned within The
Seven Seals of Revelation Bible study, there is another very good
match with the Olivet Discourse in Matthew,
Chapter 24 and the Seven Seals in Revelation,
Chapter 6 ... In fact; they are virtually the same
thing.
What Are the Seven Seals of Revelation Purpose?
