In Memory of

Zane

Efforts were made to contact as many of Zane's friends as possible, and we apologize to any who were not notified. Zane passed away on July 25, 2002. He was unaware that he had cancer. His family was at his side.

In recent conversations with family and friends, Zane sought a better understanding of his relationship with God. Zane always felt the tug on his heart toward God, and like many of us, sometimes found it difficult to answer some of the questions in his mind and heart. In keeping with that search, Zane visited Legacy Drive Baptist Church in Plano. Friends of Zane visited the church shortly after his death to find a warm, inviting place both in structure and it's people. One only has to enter the door to confirm that Zane would have felt welcome and comfortable. He must have loved the awesome and contemporary music ministry.

The message that Sunday "An Empty Chair" ... reflected the church's focus of reaching the unreached for Christ. Legacy Drive welcomes and embraces those who are searching, offering "an empty chair" in an accepting and loving atmosphere. We are thankful for Pastor Wilkes mention of Zane in his message and the comfort offered that day. The song below was written by Kris Koenigsberg, Associate Director of Creative Arts Ministries at Legacy Drive, and performed that Sunday.

We hope the following pages offer you peace and a smile as you remember Zane.

The Empty Chair

Day after day, step after step on a journey that I share with You -
You lead me in Your own way, gentle and true,
Waiting only for me to draw near.

You have shown me such mercy, and poured out Your grace,
Asking only that I be willing to share.
Yet with each empty life that I touch with my own,
do I offer an empty chair?

Sweet is the fellowship shared by your children -
and pleasant it is, to dwell in Your house.
Lord, forgive me the times that I simply pass by
And don't see there is anyone else ...

Day after day, step after step, as the road becomes steeper to climb.
You show me the hearts that are broken and empty,
and ask that I make those lives mine.

Mine to share in the mending, to offer Your hope -
to show them that there is someone who cares.
Lord, with each empty life that I touch with my own,
help me offer an empty chair.

Sweet is the fellowship shared by your children -
and pleasant it is, to dwell in this place.
Lord, my prayer is that Your heart beat deep inside mine,
and that I will show others Your care.
And with each empty life that I touch with my own,
help me offer an empty chair.

And with each empty life that I touch with my own,
help me offer an empty chair.
