Chapter 4
Moses Prophecy Study
Moses the Prophet in the Bible Explanation
It's always great to have you here at Daily Bread! In our last study
time, Moses began addressing the children of Israel by reminding them
of the events of the last 40 years in the wilderness.
As Moses continues speaking to his beloved people, knowing they are
stubborn and have demonstrated numerous times a tendency to abandon
God when they grow impatient about things.
Moses encourages them to be obedient to the Lord, because the thing
that makes them special and sets them apart from all other nations is
that the only real God has chosen them to be His
people.
Moses Prophecy Foretold
Moses the Prophet in the Bible Message
Moses reminds the Hebrews not to forget the things they've seen,
especially the day in Horeb (Mt. Sinai) when the Lord spoke to them
out of the fire. He points out that they saw no form, but only
heard His voice.
Then he warns them never to make themselves a graven image of any
kind. (Of course, Moses said this remembering that shortly after they
heard the voice of the Lord that memorable day, they turned around
and made themselves a golden calf to worship.)
Moses also gives the children of Israel this prophecy ... That in the
future, their descendants will become corrupt and do evil in the
sight of the Lord. For this, God will destroy them, leaving only a
few, scattered among the nations. This of course came to pass when
the king of Babylon destroyed Jerusalem and carried away captive the
remnant of the children of Israel ...
Moses Prophecy Truth
Moses the Prophet in the Bible Prophecy
But ... Moses then reminds them of God's great mercy, saying, If from
that time, you turn back to the Lord with all your heart, He will
forgive you.
After that, Moses reminds the people never to forget that they are
very special in God's heart, and of all the things the Lord had done
for them, which He had done for no other people.
Then Moses once again shares the wisdom that if they be obedient to
God by following His statutes and commandments, things will go well
and they will continue to live in the Land of Promise forever.
