THE BOOK OF EZRA IN THE BIBLE LESSON
The story begin at a very vulnerable time period for the Israelites.
The Book of Ezra Bible story begins the
history of the post-captivity of Israel, and tells of the
return of the remnant of the Jewish people who chose to
return to their homeland and once again seek the Lord. Under
the direction of Zerubbabel, and by a proclamation of Cyrus,
king of Persia (whom the Lord inspired), the Jewish people
laid the foundation of the new temple, while Ezra the priest
led the people to follow the law of the Lord. Most of the
native people and leaders chose to remain in Babylon because
of the prosperity they enjoyed there, but this book, as well
as the book of Nehemiah, relates the story of the precious
few who kept God in their hearts and desired to follow and
serve Him. We hope you enjoy reading the Ezra Bible story in the book of Ezra in the Bible.
