Proverbs
31 ...
Verse 26
She openeth
her mouth
with wisdom;
and in her
tongue is
the law of
kindness. |
Hello my dear lady
friend. Glad to have you
back to share more TRUTH
together.
Did you notice that this
verse describes the way
Jesus talked? It takes a
special kind of person,
when they're confronted
with the kinds of
situations that Jesus
was, to respond with
such prudence and
humility. This is
something that we women,
should strive for in our
conversation. It should
be second nature to us
to respond to people the
way Jesus responded to
people. Sometimes people
love to just hear
themselves talk, so
they'll say just about
anything, but how much
of that talk is wise and
kind? If you have
something wise or kind
to say, my dear one, say
on, because others will
learn from it and you're
glorifying God by doing
so. If you're talking
just to gain someone
else's attention, it may
be a good idea to stop
and think about what it
is that you're saying
and why you're saying
it.
You know from life
experience, that the
more a person talks, the
more opportunity there
is for disagreement,
debate,
misunderstanding, and
down right trouble to be
stirred up. Some people
mistakenly think that
talking a lot makes them
appear more intelligent.
But is that the TRUTH?

Proverbs
9:13
A foolish
woman is
clamorous:
she is
simple, and
knoweth
nothing. |
Do you like fortune
cookies? Think of the
Proverbs in the Bible,
as God's fortune
cookies. They're little
bits of wisdom to apply
to our everyday lives.
Most of the Proverbs in
the Bible were written
by king Solomon, who God
blessed with being the
wisest man to ever live.
Solomon wrote many
Proverbs that teach us
that being meek and
holding our tongue is a
very wise thing to do.
Why did God choose
Solomon to be so wise?
Because when God told
Solomon to ask Him for
anything his heart
desired, he was meek,
and unselfish.
|
1 Kings
3:5-14
In Gibeon
the LORD
appeared to
Solomon in a
dream by
night: and
God said,
Ask what I
shall give
thee. And
Solomon
said, Thou
hast showed
unto thy
servant
David my
father great
mercy,
according as
he walked
before thee
in TRUTH,
and in
righteousness,
and in
uprightness
of heart
with thee;
and thou
hast kept
for him this
great
kindness,
that thou
hast given
him a son to
sit on his
throne, as
it is this
day. And
now, O LORD
my God, thou
hast made
thy servant
king instead
of David my
father: and
I am but a
little
child: I
know not how
to go out or
come in. And
thy servant
is in the
midst of thy
people which
thou hast
chosen, a
great
people, that
cannot be
numbered nor
counted for
multitude.
Give
therefore
thy servant
an
understanding
heart to
judge thy
people, that
I may
discern
between good
and bad: for
who is able
to judge
this thy so
great a
people? And
the speech
pleased the
LORD, that
Solomon had
asked this
thing. And
God said
unto him,
Because thou
hast asked
this thing,
and hast not
asked for
thyself long
life;
neither hast
asked riches
for thyself,
nor hast
asked the
life of
thine
enemies; but
hast asked
for thyself
understanding
to discern
judgment;
Behold, I
have done
according to
thy words:
lo, I have
given thee a
wise and an
understanding
heart; so
that there
was none
like thee
before thee,
neither
after thee
shall any
arise like
unto thee.
And I have
also given
thee that
which thou
hast not
asked, both
riches, and
honor: so
that there
shall not be
any among
the kings
like unto
thee all thy
days. And if
thou wilt
walk in my
ways, to
keep my
statutes and
my
commandments,
as thy
father David
did walk,
then I will
lengthen thy
days. |
There are 31 Chapters
of Proverbs ... The
perfect amount to read
one chapter a day each
month. They will also
teach you many virtues
that God expects from
you. Why not even write
them down on little
pieces of paper and put
one under each family
member's plate at the
dinner table each night,
and you can discuss them
over dinner or dessert
with your family. It's a
great way to share God's
Word with your loved
ones.
WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE
Psalms
111:10
The fear of
the LORD is
the
beginning of
wisdom: a
good
understanding
have all
they that do
His
commandments:
His praise
endureth for
ever. |
Proverbs 2:5
Then shalt
thou
understand
the fear of
the LORD,
and find the
knowledge of
God. |
|
James 1:5
If any of
you lack
wisdom, let
Him ask of
God, that
giveth to
all men
liberally,
and
upbraideth
not; and it
shall be
given him.
|
Wisdom is different than
knowledge. Wisdom is
understanding the
spiritual meaning of
something. Knowledge is
simply memorizing and
repeating something.
Knowledge is a skill,
that practically anyone
can learn, but wisdom is
a gift. An encyclopedia
is full of knowledge,
but an encyclopedia
cannot be wise.
Ahhhhh, wisdom. It’s
something that everyone
wishes they had more of.
This is an interesting
poem comparing wisdom
and knowledge:
|
The
Difference
between
Knowledge
and Wisdom
by
William
Cowper
Knowledge
and wisdom,
far from
being one,
Have
ofttimes no
connexion.
Knowledge
dwells
In heads
replete with
thoughts of
other men;
Wisdom in
minds
attentive to
their own.
Knowledge, a
rude
unprofitable
mass,
The mere
materials
with which
Wisdom
builds,
Till
smooth'd and
squared and
fitted t'
its place,
Does but
encumber
whom it
seems to
enrich.
Knowledge is
proud that
he has
learned so
much:
Wisdom is
humble that
he knows no
more.
|
Wisdom is quiet, as
you'll find is noted
several times in the
Proverbs. A wise woman
is quiet and meek. You
aren’t the court jester.
You don't have to put
your two cents in about
everything. You don't
think it's fun to
embarrass someone, or
put anyone on the spot.
Do you know women like
that, who are abrasive?
Some have to laugh the
loudest and longest,
some have to have the
last word, some are
know-it-alls, some are
gossips. Be guarded in
the presence of women
who cuss like sailors or
pass around off color
jokes ... It's the enemy
that has a hold on them,
and would love to entice
you to do the same. Pray
for them. It may take
some practice to be
meek, because the world
has taught people to be
so ... Comfortable ...
Being crude.

Proverbs
13:3
He that
keepeth his
mouth
keepeth his
life: but he
that openeth
wide his
lips shall
have
destruction. |
A virtuous woman doesn’t
have to hear herself
talk … You love to hear
the Spirit of the Lord
talk. The only attention
you long for is from
God. Respectable is what
you are. You're not
aggressive, brusque or
sarcastic. You're not a
busybody. You're not
rude. If you don’t have
TRUTH or goodness to
speak of, you need not
utter a word.
|
Proverbs
21:23
Whoso
keepeth his
mouth and
his tongue
keepeth his
soul from
troubles. |
Proverbs
21:9
It is better
to dwell in
a corner of
the
housetop,
than with a
brawling
woman in a
wide house. |
Proverbs
21:19
It is better
to dwell in
the
wilderness,
than with a
contentious
and an angry
woman. |
Proverbs
27:15
A continual
dropping in
a very rainy
day and a
contentious
woman are
alike. |
1 Peter
3:4-5
But let it
be the
hidden man
of the
heart, in
that which
is not
corruptible,
even the
ornament of
a meek and
quiet
spirit,
which is in
the sight of
God of great
price. For
after this
manner in
the old time
the holy
women also,
who trusted
in God,
adorned
themselves,
being in
subjection
unto their
own husbands
... |
Proverbs
8:13
The fear of
the LORD is
to hate
evil: pride,
and
arrogancy,
and the evil
way, and the
froward
mouth, do I
hate.

Need I SAY
more?
Remember Thumper from
the animated movie
Bambi? Thumper said
something that could
have hurt Bambi's
feelings, so his mother
reminded him, What did
your dad tell you? And
Thumper answered slowly,
If you can't say
something nice, don't
say anything at
all. Such a cute little
story, and we
emphatically admonish
our children to heed
these kinds of
teachings, but as
adults, do we do the
same?
SUFFERING FROM DRAGON
BREATH?
James talks about the
troubles that talking
can get a person into.
|
James 3:5-10
Even so the
tongue is a
little
member, and
boasteth
great
things.
Behold, how
great a
matter a
little fire
kindleth!
And
the tongue
is a fire,
a world of
iniquity: so
is the
tongue among
our members,
that it
defileth the
whole body,
and
setteth on
fire
the course
of nature;
and
it is set on
fire of hell.
For every
kind of
beasts, and
of birds,
and of
serpents,
and of
things in
the sea, is
tamed, and
hath been
tamed of
mankind: But
the tongue
can no man
tame; it is
an unruly
evil, full
of deadly
poison.
Therewith
bless we
God, even
the Father;
and
therewith
curse we
men, which
are made
after the
similitude
of God. Out
of the same
mouth
proceedeth
blessing and
cursing. My
brethren,
these things
ought not so
to be. |
It's a virtuous act to
stop and think before
you blurt out something
that you may be sorry
for later. As a child, I
used to get angry at my
dad because he would
tell me time and time
again, You should count
to 10 before you speak.
I wish I had known then
that he just had my best
interests at heart. (I
probably reminded him of
Thumper back then!)
|
Proverbs
25:11
A word fitly
spoken is
like apples
of gold in
pictures of
silver. |
Now, nobody is saying
that you can't be
yourself ... But don't
forget, your old self
and your new self are
different. Not two
separate spirits, but
your spirit is reborn.
The new you is renewed
in the faith and your
spontaneous responses to
situations and things in
conversation will change
a lot. Don't get too
upset with yourself if
you make a boo boo here
and there and from time
to time utter something
that you wish you hadn't
... As I said before,
several times, we hurt
other people plenty
without doing it on
purpose, and we probably
speak out of turn even
more so. Be patient, but
be diligent in choosing
righteous words and
conversation.
And as always, reflect
on God's Grace, every
day of your life.
