How to Be a Confident Woman
A Woman of Faith Journey

Hi my friend! Let's open up today's discussion with a little bit of talk about the virtue called confidence. A dear and wise friend of mine describes confidence as when "you know that you know that you know." Confidence can also be defined as faith. Webster defines it, as you can see in our Virtuous Vitamin above, as consciousness of being sure. The holy woman of faith is sure of herself, her beliefs, and her faith in God.

Now, we're still not positive where king Lemuel's kingdom was since nobody can assure us that Lemuel is truly Solomon, so we don't know where the geographical area was where he and his mother were accustomed, but she says that a virtuous woman is not afraid of the snow for her household. If you've ever lived in a climate where there is a season of snowfall, you know that there are preparations needed to accommodate for the cold weather, even in today's world of luxuries and conveniences ... Can you imagine back in Biblical times, when the most common "home" a family lived in was a tent? So to say that a virtuous woman or a woman of faith is not "afraid" of the snow, back then, would signify strong confidence, and it would imply that she is prepared.

The word "afraid" makes you think of fear, but the kind of fear that the holy woman of faith has, is not the kind that means worry or fret. The only fear in a virtuous woman's heart is fear (the utmost respect) of the Lord.

Proverbs 14:26

In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and His children shall have a place of refuge.

A Holy Woman of Faith Instructions

The holy woman of faith puts her faith in God, and she knows that He will protect her and her family because of her faith, her confidence in Him. Her love for God puts any other fear to rest for both her and her family.

What Are We Really Afraid Of?

Do you remember the following paragraph from Step 1?

Way down deep in our hearts, many of us think we're not worthy enough to earn the wedding cake that our Lord so truly wants us to share with Him. In our eyes, the recipe is too difficult and we don't believe that we have the ingredients necessary to prepare it ... And what you believe, you will receive. But if you add a little faith to the recipe what could happen then?

Have Faith in Your Faith!

The holy woman of faith Tidbit of Truth ... Confidence, belief, faith ... They are three different words for the same virtue. Let's do another word association: Worry, fret, doubt, fear ... Have you ever noticed that evil is a progressive process? Worry causes fret, fret causes doubt, doubt causes fear ... And fear is of the devil.

1 John 4:18

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

A Woman of Faith Process

A virtuous life is also a progressive process, unless you've remained virtuous from the time you were born! It takes time. You will fall. Daily at first. Maybe hourly. Don't worry! Have confidence, have faith and believe to receive ... You can do this! God's Grace will prevail, when you have confidence in Him. When you do stumble, repent and ask His forgiveness. Pray for confidence, because dear heart, lack of confidence will sometimes make you just say, "Oh, the heck with it all," and you will give up on something that is actually so possible, so probable, and so easy to overcome ... If you will only have faith in God, and faith in yourself. You will become the holy woman you seek to be.

Every day is a new day, every moment is a new moment. Nobody can tell you that you can't start fresh whenever you want. Make changes in your life to make remaining virtuous an easier task. If you don't want to face a lion, you stay out of the arena, right? If you don't want to face temptation, you stay out of the situations where you know it will be awaiting.

1 Thessalonians 5:22

Abstain from all appearance of evil.

You gain confidence when you make certain of something for yourself. When you personally see to it that something gets done, you trust in the outcome. If you make sure ahead of time that you are prepared, you will not fear 'the snow' or any other obstacle that you may face. Not that I'm known to be a patriotic person or anything, but one motto of the Air Force of the USA is "Preparedness is our Profession." You can be a pro at being prepared, but it takes advanced preparation ... A B-1 Bomber, that has no bombs aboard is just about useless, but you are preparing, you are ready with your defense, you have your strategy ... That's exactly what you are doing by participating in the Virtuous Woman program! Kudo's to you!

Now, all of Verse 21:

You probably know what I'm going to ask about this Holy Woman verse, don't you? Do you really think that king Lemuel's mom meant that a woman has to provide expensive clothes to her family in order to be considered virtuous? By now, we've pretty much learned that the king's mom is a little more intelligent than all that. Yes, they were royalty and they probably lived in a palace with all kinds of luxurious clothes and furnishings and food and all the amenities a person could want or need, but you can just feel that this mother wasn't so shallow that she would suggest that a woman's virtue is related to her wealth. So what could she have meant?

Better yet, how can we be a woman of faith in our life today?

The most expensive, isn't necessarily always the best, but what God provides is. Scarlet is a rich cloth. The scarlet of a virtuous woman's household is Godliness. She has instructed her family well, they are prepared, confident and unafraid. She insures that their faith is strong and trusts that the Lord will provide all of their needs.

Snow, heat, draught, flood, temptation, poverty, accusation, illness, no matter what you're faced with, God wants you to lean on Him ... To depend on Him. If you "Let go and let God" and profess to hand your troubles to Him, saying with your mouth that you know He will take care of business, yet can't resist doing things your way, you're like a fly in the ointment, aren't you? Don't forget the "Let go" part. Pray. Ask the Holy Spirit to instruct you, and don't deviate from His plan. Who knows better, Him, or you? Faith is the key to obtaining and maintaining the holy woman of faith status.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Matthew 7:7-11

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in Heaven give good things to them that ask Him?

Matthew 21:22

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

1 John 5:14-15

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Ask the Lord How to Be a Confident Woman
A Woman of Faith Joy

This is a very important thing to remember about being a woman of faith... When you ask the Lord for something ... Ask "according to His will." There are so many things that we don't understand with our human limitations. We think many times that what we want is the only thing that can satisfy us, but once we get what we want, many times we're disappointed. You've heard people say, "Be careful what you pray for, because you just might get it." If you pray for God's will to be done, you may not get what you perceive in your human perspective to be the answer to your prayers, but God's will is always better than anything we can ever hope for.

Ephesians 3:20

Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us ...

What does that mean to the woman of faith? It means, Glory to God! By His mighty power at work within us, He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope for! When you "Let go and let God," ... Do it with confidence!

Psalms 39:7

And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.

Hope is also related to confidence.

We have hope in our Salvation. We have hope for little things and we have hope for big things. Keep doubt out of all your hopes. It will hinder the outcome, because what you believe, you receive. If you hope to be virtuous ... Give it your all ... Give it your confidence, your faith, your hope ... Know that you know that you know, that it is in you. Persevere. Be persistent. Pray. Being a strong and holy woman of faith is within your reach!

Forget the past, think forward! You may not have attained the virtue that you hope for yet, but the effort that you put forth, coupled with your faith, will bring you success:

Philippians 3:13-14

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Putting your past behind you is of the utmost importance. You are a new person in Christ. You are renewed in spirit. What the woman of faith can attain with the hand of the Lord is limitless!

Confide in Him!

Don't let anyone make you feel bad for anything you may have done in your past. You are forgiven. Everyone, everywhere, with the exception of Jesus Christ has done things they are ashamed of and wish they hadn't done.

And as always, reflect on God's Grace, every day of your life.
