The Virtuous Woman
A Recipe
Step 11
Welcome back!
Proverbs 31 - Verse 19
She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
Are You a Beloved Mom Bible Study
How to Be a Better Mom Path to Peace
My dear friend, we've been through ten steps together now, and you've endured a lot of repetition. You have read the same concepts and principles, just mixed up in different sentences over and over again, and there is a reason for that. You have come to believe that the things the world teaches are acceptable, right, normal, true, standard. You have believed these things for a long time, because they have been instilled in you time and time and time again, so to learn a new thing is going to take a lot of reiteration especially if you want it to become second nature, or a new lifestyle.
Loving Mom Tidbit of Truth ... Any time you make a major life change, it takes a lot of getting used to. Shucks, even if you move the trash can to a different place in your kitchen, you'll find yourself going to the old spot over and over and over again until your mind finally accepts and gets used to the new location. We've got a lot of changes taking place, so I urge you to ...
Stick With Me!
The spindle and the distaff are both parts of the spinning wheel. It's doubtful that many people use a spinning wheel anymore, but when you think of a woman using a spinning wheel, do you picture her in her home or in a factory? Perhaps we could relate this verse to being a homebody. We already talked about being a homemaker or in other words, staying at home, serving the Lord during the hours that society has established as "working hours." Now let's talk about being a homebody. That's right, someone who simply loves to stay at home, whenever possible. (Especially these days) Home is where the heart is.
Does a Loving Mom choose to go out with the girls, where a plethora of evil and temptation awaits? Or would she rather be at home with her family, tending to her precious loved ones and enriching her family life? What can the world outside of the home, possibly have, that could get you one step closer to God? I'd like to remind you of two things I've mentioned before: Any time you are not spending time with God, you are spending time with the world. And ... Spending time with the world can occur within the doors of your own home. So, be alert.

With all my being, I hope you'll open your heart and think about this from God's eyes. There's no doubt that the world is jam packed with "entertainment" of all kinds and things that look fun and exciting and pleasing to the senses. Because you have been taught that the entertainment of the world is righteous, it probably makes you want to roll your eyes and spit a great big old "Pthhhhh" at me for suggesting that most activities away from home are dangerous territory for your soul. Everybody goes out and parties. Everyone has a night out with the girls. Everybody this and everyone that ... But, just because everyone else is doing something, does that make it right? Everyone thinks it's okay, because society accepts it. But what does God think? Does He not know the righteous fruits of a Loving Mom?
Know why few people are chosen?
Because few choose Him!
Remember hearing this a million times when you were growing up ...
"Just because everybody else jumps off a cliff, does that mean that
you should jump too?"
Is That Your Idea of Fun?
Let me give you just one little scenario of what most women in
today's world think is acceptable and ... Fun.
Being a Beloved Mom Bible study
How to Be a Better Mom for God
Let's title this "Sleazy Scenario"
After work a married woman meets with two of her girlfriends for an adult beverage at a restaurant/bar. She adapts her work attire, a "business suit" with skirt 8 inches above the knee and 2 sizes too tight, by losing the jacket, which covered a silky spaghetti strap chemise underneath, with coordinating bra straps fashionably (?) showing. She wears a cross necklace as though it somehow justifies the promiscuous style she chooses.
As she enters the establishment where she is to meet her two friends, she carefully takes inventory of the customers and squeezes through the crowded waiting area, which means brushing past at least 3 or 4 people and saying "excuse me" with a flirtatious smile, before joining her party. Once seated, the girls each share gossip about the people at their particular place of employment and she orders a drink and an appetizer with a wink to the waiter.
Conversation continues with the telling of the newest dirty jokes that each heard over the week, laughing much too loudly, then personal and confidential topics (secrets which belong between soul mates only) are openly discussed, commented and advised upon by all three.
Occasional glances to various men throughout the "happy hour" are exchanged (some even married and with their families), without shame or even the slightest feeling of wrongdoing. She suddenly becomes very aware of her wedding band, and so she won't lose any prospective attention, she sits on her left hand. The hour comes to a close and when she reaches her car, she puts her jacket back on before going home ... To her family. Are these the actions of a Loving Mom?
How very indiscreet ... From Jesus' point of view. But ,harmless and innocent from today's woman's eyes. This is just normal behavior to most women. Now let's turn the tables and pretend that instead of this being a woman in the story, pretend it's your soul-mate. Ouch! The story suddenly takes on an ugliness that you probably didn't recognize a moment ago doesn't it?
It's as if today people forget that they're married ... Or just plain don't care! Many people behave this way in the very presence of their mate. Guess what ... Jesus is right there watching, no matter who is present or absent.
It may still seem normal to you, or no big deal, because it is so commonplace, but one day, when you become sensitive to God's Will for you as a woman. For all women. You will realize just how heart wrenching it is to your Father. (Oh yeah, and did I remind, you're a prospective Bride for His Son?!) This, is a good example of forgetting the oil for your lamp in yesterday's step.

Remember, this is just a scenario of having a "happy hour." You also know very well what goes on during the girl's night out, etc. You know yourself that you've even seen women at the grocery store behave in such a manner that it makes one ashamed to be a woman. The world has taught them such. Pray for the lonely loving Mom before they become a lost soul.
James 4:4
... know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God?
whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Remember, satan is the prince of this world and his intention is to
win your soul away from God. The test is to see if you will be
persuaded by his trickery like Eve was.
Genesis 3:13
And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast
done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

How to Be a Better Mom for the Kids
I know, I know ... You can't help but think that I'm just a little
too cynical about the world and it's effect on people. You might
think I need to take a chill pill or to "get with the times," ... Be
a "today's woman," but the times, and being a today's woman are
exactly what scares me for this generation.
You know, it starts at a very young age, too. I've just given you a
scenario involving an adult woman, but what about girls in their
teens or pre-teen years. What do you think they're doing at slumber
parties in this decade? Are they going on scavenger hunts to find a
paper clip and a bobby pin and a 1982 penny, and playing scrabble,
and croquet, and eating pizza and popcorn ... Or are they playing
Truth or Dare, and inviting boys over to play Spin the Bottle, and
sneaking out to get a tattoo or a piercing, or alcoholic beverages or
worse?
And where is their supervision?
They had to get these new ideas from somewhere ... Where do you think
they came from? (Answer: The world.) When little girls are three,
four, five years old, they don't think about those kind of things.
You go ahead and ponder on it for a while. Okaaaaaaay, I'll help you
ponder on it.
Virtue is Natural
Think back to when you were a little girl again. I'm talking about as
far back as you can possibly remember, like when you were a toddler,
up until the time when you were introduced to the world, regularly.
Normally this is when a child goes to day care, pre-school, or
kindergarten.
If you take a look at your innocent age, you probably had a little
dolly that you loved and cared for so meticulously ... In fact, you
were probably a better mother to that doll than most mothers are to
their own living, breathing, children. You probably nurtured that
little baby doll with love and tenderness that couldn't be matched by
Mother Theresa. You didn't leave that baby out of your sight for a
moment. All you thought about, was how to best take care of your
baby, your pretend house, and all that went with it. You had virtue
like nobody's business. In fact, if anyone did anything that
compromised the virtue of your little world that you were protecting,
you better believe, it was going to be challenged by your ferocious
toddler righteousness, by golly, and that right quick!
Where is She?
Where did all those little virtuous women go? I'll tell you where ... They were deceived and convinced by the world and the things of the world. They became enamored and enchanted via television, school, friends, big sisters, advertising, etc. They certainly weren't influenced by the Bible, that's for sure. In the end ... Many even become hurt and/or angry promise keeper rejects of society and some even become suicidal. For those souls, come and walk with me on the genuine Path of Promise.

How to Be a Better Mom For You
She's still in there, you know. Your innocence, your virtue, your
strong faith, everything. It just needs polished. Here's a little
test you can take, and you probably don't even know you do this, but
I'll bet you do. The next time you go to the grocery store and you're
standing in the checkout line where a new mother is holding her
infant, asleep and swaddled in a blanket on her shoulder, notice that
as you look at that picture of what you pretended as a child, you'll
find yourself swaying back and forth slowly, as if you were holding
that baby yourself. Your head will even tilt to one side and you'll
lightly sigh or whisper to yourself, "Awwwwww." It's natural, I'm
telling you. It is.
So why don't women follow their natural instincts to be virtuous?
Because there is an enemy out there, that doesn't sleep. There is a
crafty, tricky, persuader who's enticing words are "smoother than
oil" (to steal a phrase that king Solomon used when describing
un-virtuous women), and your enemy is persistent as a gnat that will
not give up.
The devil sees every instance as an opportunity to attack. His evil
offerings will not appear to be bad, but he'll package them with
ribbons and bows, and make them look like a gift instead of a curse.
He is dressed in a tuxedo, not a red suit with a forked tail, a
pitchfork in his hand and horns on his head.
He will try to make you think he and his ideas are romantic, fun,
intelligent, captivating, honorable even. Be alert. Be careful how
you walk. Use discretion. Walk in the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Do
not be deceived. He will use whatever means he can to lure you into
his deceit: television shows, commercials, movies, books, magazines,
billboards, food packaging, newspapers, mail, clothing, dreams,
music, thoughts, even Christian holiday gimmicks such as Santa Claus
and the Easter bunny. You name it, his purpose is to win your soul
away from God, any way he can.

How to Be a Better Mom For All
How can something as seemingly harmless as Santa Claus and the Easter
bunny be the work of the devil? Well, you teach your children that
these things, which they can see, are real, then later
in life, they find out that they're not. What questions do you
suppose arise in their subconscious minds about God and the Holy
Spirit, who they can't see, but are really real?
Ephesians 6:11-18
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to
stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of
this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that
ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to
stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with
Truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel
of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of Faith, wherewith ye
shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the
Spirit, which is the Word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the
Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication
for all Saints;
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring
lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

How to Be a Better Mom Today
Did you get the gist of all that? Our trials and tribulations more
often than not, are not with people, but evil. You must protect
yourself from the deceit and power of evil and watch out for your
fellow Saints, too.
Here comes another one of those old sayings again:
"A woman's place is in the home," is falsely thought of today as a
chauvinistic attitude, however, when looked at from the Lord's point
of view, it is a very loving and protective admonition. God knows
what the world holds outside the safety of the virtuous woman's home.
In this generation, no matter how harmless the world may seem, it is
abounding with ungodliness. The opinions of others does not touch the
virtuous woman. She knows Truth.
Titus 2:3-5
3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as
becometh Holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine,
teachers of good things;
4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love
their husbands, to love their children,
5 To be discreet, chaste [pure], keepers at home,
good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not
blasphemed.
There you have it ... The Bible says for the older women to teach the
younger women to be "keepers at home." That doesn't only mean
be a good house keeper either, it means keep your self at home.

How to Be a Better Mom Adventure
When the challenge of composing the Virtuous Woman program first came
about, gathering supporting Scripture for all of the virtues that
king Lemuel's mom presented as admirable characteristics in a woman
was very gratifying because if you've ever done your own Bible
research on a topic, and not just read something that someone else
has done all the researching on, you are rewarded with an
extraordinary satisfaction when you discover that Scripture
consistently confirms itself over and over and over again. But after
writing the Virtuous Woman - The Recipe, even though Scripture
continually repeats and verifies and corroborates and validates and
substantiates and proves these verses to be Truth, there are women
who will cross their arms over their chest, scrunch up their chin,
stomp their foot and dispute it vehemently because they just can't
beliEve it applies to them.
Suggesting that a woman keep herself at home in today's world is such
a controversial subject, and since it seems to cause the hair on
everyone's neck to stand up in defense of the world's opinion against
the Bible's Word, and since I'm not a Bible scholar and just merely a
servant of God, trying to assist in protecting the souls of His
sheep, I thought it best to present to you various perspectives of
what it means to be "keepers at home" from several different renowned
sages of scripture throughout this program, like this little jewel
from the Apostle John:
1 John 2:15
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any
man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
Buying a spinning wheel suddenly seems like a marvelous idea.

How to Be a Better Mom Directions
Maybe you've had moments in your life when you haven't exactly been
discreet. Maybe you've had days or years or decades of indiscretion.
All you have to do is repent, ask God's forgiveness, and you're as
innocent as a newborn baby again in your Father's eyes. His gift of
Grace is so incomparable.
Ephesians 2:1-9
1 And you hath He quickened, who were dead in trespasses
and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course
of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the
spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times
past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh
and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as
others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love
wherewith He loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us
together with Christ, (by Grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together
in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding
riches of His Grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by Grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
As always, reflect on God's Grace which He makes available every day of our lives.
His mercy endures forever!
